Kindergarten News
In Phonics this week we will be learning the vowel letter Ee with its short sound as in elephant and egg and its long sound as in equal and eagle.We will be focusing on the short vowel sound. We will try Show and Tell, so start looking for an item to share!
For Reading we will finish the story, See How We Grow, and introduce an animal fantasy story titled farfallina & marcel. We will continue to work on the comprehension skill “plot” and will discuss friendships. Be sure to keep practicing high-frequency words, especially the two new words: see and look.
In Math we will continue working on Chapter 8: Money and Time. Practice with the coins penny, nickel, and dime, and begin practicing to tell time to the hour.
Sunday, February 7th is Super Bowl Sunday- - Are you ready for some football? Will the Indianapolis Colts win or will the New Orleans Saints be the champs???
Monday, February 8th is Day 2: gym class. Please be sure to have sneakers and gym attire!
On Friday,February12th we will be having our Valentine’s party. Anyone who still owes his/her $4.00 party money is asked to send it as soon as possible. Valentines may be sent in anytime during the upcoming week. They will be delivered at the party on Friday!

Monday, February 15th is Presidents’ Day- - School will be closed for students and teachers. Happy Birthday George and Abe!
Week of March 8th – 12th will be Kindergarten registration for the upcoming school year- - If you or anyone you know has a school-age child ready to attend Kindergarten for the 2010-2011 school year, then please call for a scheduled time for registration. Appointments need to be scheduled with the office.
Tuesday, May 11th will be our class field trip to Lake Tobias (rain date will be Tues., May 18th)- - Details will be sent home closer to departure.
Wednesday, May 26th will be Kindergarten Graduation- Graduation for all Kindergarten classes will be held at the High School Auditorium beginning promptly @ 9:30am. All are invited to attend. Details will be sent home much closer to the BIG DAY! **Kindergarten graduation pictures usually are taken in early April. When a date is set, information/details will be sent home. Each child will be photographed as part of a class photo even if a package is not purchased, so plan on your child wearing a WHITE COLLARED SHIRT since students will be wearing graduation caps and gowns (girls a red gown w/ blue hat and boys a blue gown w/ red hat).
